We have a peach tree in our backyard - FULL of peaches, but none of them will ripen. We're not sure what the problem with the tree is, whether it's just a dud tree or if just hasn't been taken care of. So with hopes of the tree producing edible fruit in the future, we started some picking and pruning to see if it will perk up for the seasons to come.
You can see how heavy the branches are in this picture because of the peaches. The good thing was the branches hung so low that Mary could pick her own peaches - and throw them around the yard because she thought they were balls.
We have no idea if our work will pay off at all - but with as busy as we've been lately, it was fun to take it easy and play in the yard together on a hot July morning. But, if our work does pay off, you will ALL be getting peaches next year.

who ever heard of peaches in georgia? that is crazy talk.
'ole Ronnie Lee might be able to offer you some tips...he seems to be quite the agronomist.
our neighbor has peach trees (so we grab a few every now and then:) but you have to cut them WAY back before winter (shaped like an umbrella top so the sun will be able to get to all branches) and when that's not done, the branches are too heavy and they can't get the sun they need, etc. so, it's actually easy but have to almost chop off most of branch in order to produce for next year... hope that helps:)
I hope your work pays off. I have a love for peaches. Not roads named Peachtree or Peach Circle... just the fruit.
Scott's mom and dad have several peach trees in their yard and they just loaded us up with delicious fresh peaches! They're so yummy!
