Uncle Bob's Pumpkin Patch

We went to Uncle Bob's Pumpkin Patch with friends from church last weekend. There wasn't so much pumpkin patching since the fields were rotting from the rain, it was more of a pumpkin pile, but the farm was rockin and we had a ton of fun.

To sum up the day, it was freezing outside, it took Mary 45 minutes to warm up to the animals in the petting zoo and it took us at least 45 minutes to finish the corn maze since we let Mary direct us through the thing.

{Some pics from the patch}

Petting Zoo 1,
2,
(she's not going to touch the sheep)
and 3.
(pigmy goats aren't so bad).

We wrapped up the night with burgers and bottomless fries at Red Robin, then we had this sweet idea to get milkshakes from chickfila for dessert. We were absolutely sick. People commented at church the next day that I was starting to show ... sadly, they were only noticing the 4000 calories of food I had eaten the night before. Bleh.

Photography Skills

Mary's got a new talent. She takes pictures.

She knows where we keep the camera, and she knows how to turn it on. She knows how to point and shoot and then return the camera to it's drawer.

Uploading pictures is always a surprise.

Sweet Goodness

Tyler and Wendy came to town two weeks ago. We love these people. They just so happen to be the masterminds behind Blue Lily Photography and they graced Atlanta with their talent. We are lucky people.

We met for a photo shoot in Piedmont Park. Wendy was taking pictures and Tyler also had a camera. I asked Tyler 27 times what he was doing. He never gave me a serious answer.

Paul told me that Tyler was shooting a video. I didn't think that was a serious answer either. You would believe me if you spent 2 minutes with Tyler and Paul.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when Paul sent me the link to this video, but I was.

These people are so talented, it's ridiculous. I love them. I love their work. I want to kiss them both.

#2

We are expecting baby #2 in April!

I am 12 weeks along, but it's still a little hard to believe that we are going to be parents again. Are you ever ready to do this again?!

According to Mary, I'm going to have a little girl baby and she's going to have a little boy baby. So, we'll see how that works out.

I'm definitely feeling pregnant ... tired and sick. I'm hoping the morning sickness has moved on for good, but I don't want to speak too soon. Luckily, Mary is an easy little girl and she gives me plenty of time to take it easy if I need to. I suppose I've done this before, but I just forgot how nasty it feels to be exhausted and nauseous for weeks on end.

The thought of my own kitchen and preparing food/washing dishes made me want to lose it for a couple of weeks, so I think I ate a chargrilled chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-a or a Subway sandwich just about every day. Glad that didn't last forever.

I've had two ultrasounds and the baby looks great (tiny, but great). So, we're hoping for a healthy baby and an easy pregnancy ... or a healthy pregnancy and an easy baby. I'll take either.

P.S.

I changed our blog title. "The Mitchell Family" is too common. There are a million of them. I have a handful on my reader and I'm feeling the need to distinguish!

I'm feeling P.S. It's a little more creative, even if it is only our initials.

I would put Mary up there, but P.S.M. doesn't work quite as well, and P.M.S. doesn't cut it either.

It helps that I actually use the phrase "p.s." when speaking. Paul says it's not necessary to finish a thought and then add "oh, p.s." to add in another thought when talking. Apparently I can just add the other thought with no introduction ... whatever.

Flood Business

Even after years of drought, 15 inches of rain in 24 hours isn't good for anyone.

We flooded a bit while we were at church two weekends ago, but it wasn't too terrible and ended up being easy cleanup. Too bad it was only a hint of what was to come for the next two days.

I got to bed at 11 Sunday night, woke up just after 1am to go to the bathroom, and was still awake when Mary woke up around 2:00 and needed help going to the bathroom. I woke up again at 3:00 to some ridiculous thunder and realized it had been raining all night. I ran downstairs to check our back door for flooding and found our back yard full of water.

Goodmorning!

I woke up Paul and we spent the rest of the night/morning soaking up water as it poured in our backdoor. We went through every towel we own in the first 15 minutes, so we spent the next few hours ringing out towels again and again and mopping up as much water as we could. Unfortunately, it was still raining and the water was still pouring in, so we were fighting a losing battle. Talk about frustrating. The rain finally let up at 7am, when Paul had to shower and head to work. I spent Monday mopping and soaking water as it continued to rain.
It was a lovely day ...

Thankfully, our downstairs area is all hardwood and we were able to keep the water away from our living room - so none of our furniture was damaged, and eventually (Monday night) the rain stopped! Paul's Dad came Monday evening and dug a massive trench to drain the water away from our house. He was our HERO. He dug for hours to drain our swimming pool of a backyard away from our house, and it worked. We were only left with minor damage to our floors and baseboards, but since we don't own our place, we really can't complain.

Here's to a long week of dry, sunny weather!

Little Ballerina

Mary started ballet classes this week. She loved it. I loved it. She seemed so grown up to me, it was precious. She went into her class all by herself with just her teachers and the other little girls (is it sad if I missed her for 1/2 an hour?!).
She came running out at the end of class so excited to show me what she learned.

Making "butterfly wings" with her legs.
and her favorite ... "Pizza Feet!"
Freakin adorable!
