New Friends

We went to Aviation Park by the Dekalb airport last week for a little playtime and a picnic. The park is built right along the airport runways, so the planes are taking off and landing all around you as you play (it's a fabulous park).

I snagged this picture of Mary with her new friends that afternoon. So they are a little older than her, and the man she sat next to couldn't walk or talk very well, but she told him everything she thought about that day and tried to go home with him.  Sometimes you meet those people that you just instantly connect with. BFF.

Life Lessons

We have lived here for over a month and I just realized that I haven't been cleaning out the lint filter in my dryer. I thought I was cleaning it out ... I just didn't know where the rest of the lint was going. I found it. I could have knit a sweater from the amount of lint in there. Now I don't have to run my dryer twice to dry a load of clothes.

I also bought a curling iron almost two months ago. I have been thinking ever since that I bought a lousy curling iron. It wasn't curling, it was barely hot. I realized this morning that I had the heat set on level one. The thing goes to level THIRTY.

Where is my mind?

Circus Circus

Saturday was our romantic Valentine's Day trip to Ringling Brothers Circus. It was Paul and Mary's first trip to the circus. We went with a group of friends and loved the show! I was hoping I would want to join the circus after seeing the show ... but I still don't want to.

Mary had some serious tummy troubles - so as much as she tried to enjoy her cotton candy, I just don't think she was feeling it. Paul wins all the points for taking care of her that day. He might have spent 1/2 the show in the bathroom ... poor Paul, and poor MARY!

Check out Mary's face in all of these pictures. Not so fun ... that sums up the weekend for her.

I spoke too soon

about this potty training business that is.

I went to an aerobics class at church last week. We let all the kids run around in the gym while we think skinny thoughts for an hour. Mary chugged a glass of milk on our way, so I made a note to take her to the potty 20 minutes or so after class started. We started our workout and Mary started her playtime with a room full of toddlers. It wasn't until we started stretching at the end of class that I remembered we never went to the bathroom!

I look across the gym at Mary, she looks across the gym at me ... and she gets that look on her face that could only mean one thing.

I made the mad dash across the gym, only to get there too late.

She was wet, the floor was wet, and the yoga mat she was standing next to was also wet.

Fabulous, she just had an accident on somebody else's things. Somebody else I hadn't even met yet.

I grabbed some cleaner and paper towels from the bathroom and walked across the gym to introduce myself.

"Hi, My name is Sarah, my daughter just peed on your stuff."

Say Dinosaur

Mary: Mommy I wanna take a picture with you

Me: Okay, ready, say cheese!
. . .

Mary: No, No, I wanna say Dinosaur.

Okay ...
Dinosaur!!

Potty Training

We started potty training last week. I can't believe I'm doing this. We've jumped into big girl life!

We really haven't had a bad day with it yet. A few accidents here and there (one of them was right in front of the potty, so does that even count?!), but Mary has the hang of telling us when she needs to go and she LOVES the treats that come afterwards. Kind of like training a dog ... I'm just surprised how much we have to talk about/think about the potty. It's all day, and it's a bit tiresome. I hope this only lasts a little while.

Anyway, she stayed dry all day yesterday and all through the night last night, so I am encouraged! And I must say that all of her pants fit much better without that bulky diaper to cover. Wahoo.

Family Picture

I'm looking through our iphoto album for a recent family picture and I'm not having much luck. I have 5763 billion something pictures of Mary, but I'm pretty sparse in the family picture folder. It's probably because Mary is much much cuter than us, well - Paul's pretty darn cute, but in a different way. Anyway, we are together as a family all the time, but I guess we just forget to turn the camera around on our own faces.

This picture from our trip to Utah is the best picture I can come up with. It's the only picture in the last 5 months where all of us are looking decently looking at the camera. Nevermind that it has all of our food scraps and trash across the picture. And our Cafe Rio cup looks like our second child. I guess I don't really mind though, because Cafe Rio IS that good.

So my new goal for 2009 ... take some decent pictures of ourselves.

Silver Comet Trail

One of my favorite things about where we live. We are a mile away from the beginning of the Silver Comet Trail. It's 61 miles of biking/jogging heaven. It runs West from Atlanta to the Alabama border and oh my it is wonderful!

With 70 degree weather, we joined the rest of Atlanta on the trail this afternoon. I think we've found where we'll be spending every warm moment we get this year.

I Love Jesus But I Drink A Little

I'm sure the rest of the world has seen this already, but I saw it on a friends blog and had to post it! I love Ellen and how can you not love Gladys?!
Crack me up ...

Tiny Skis

We went out to Utah last weekend. It was an early Valentine's Day/5 year dating anniversary surprise from Paul - but more on that later.
While we were there, we couldn't resist putting Mary on some tiny skis for a day. I had no idea how a two-year-old would do on skis ... but it was too cute to pass up the opportunity =). We ended up having SO much fun in the snow that day. Paul kept Mary between his skis and then she got up enough courage to come down by herself, very slowly, but she loved it.

Thanks to Lisa and Daniel for a fabulous weekend!
I posted more pictures in our Picasa Album HERE.
