I know you're probably wondering how our trip to New York was a business trip in any way, considering how much I've talked about Paul working. Well Saturday he DID have to work, which apparently was super fun for him. He was part of some Law Student Advisory Board for Kaplan, so he got to work with what sounds like a great group of new lawyers and law students from around the country. Anything else you want to know, you'll have to ask Paul because I was shopping.
I walked down to the gigantic Macy's on 34th Street (10 floors of Macy's, that's big!) and walked around the shops near Madison Square Garden. I went to a a cute little shopping area on the West Side of Manhattan and ended up back in Chinatown in search of something fake. I spent a grand total of $35 in Chinatown and came away with a ton of loot. I was ridiculously proud of myself by the end of the day - not only did I find some fun bargains, but I successfully navigated the NYC subway system including Grand Central and Penn Station. Ha.
We also pretended like we were staying at the Waldorf Astoria. Until they kicked us out.
Really, we just took a looong walk up 5th Avenue and did nothing but window shopping.
The only thing we bought was a bear for Mary at FAO Shwartz. The most amazing toy store in the world! It did make us miss Mary, we couldn't stop talking about what she would be doing if she were there with us. Hopefully someday!
We spent Saturday evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Too bad we couldn't spend our entire trip there, there was SO much to see. We were in love.
Paul warned me that the Met was huge, but I didn't realize that they had an Egyptian temple inside the place! We were there for hours and I think we only saw a portion of the museum. That place is ridiculous.
It is also absolutely beautiful!
I had fun taking pictures of Paul with some of his favorite paintings.
(You can't use your flash inside the museum, so sorry about the blurry pictures.)
When the museum closed, we walked through Central Park and shared some late night pizza. By the time we made it back to our hotel, it was well after midnight but Times Square was busier than ever. Welcome to the city that never sleeps!
