Faces

Mary learned how to draw faces yesterday.

Although this picture of my family looks like we're drooping down into the underworld, she assures me that we're really all very happy.

Customer Service

I sold our microwave on Craigslist last week. The guy who bought it didn't have a car yet, so he asked if I could drop it off. I dropped it off and he asked me to carry it inside for him. He wanted me to set it up on his counter, plug it in, and set the clock. Then he wanted a demonstration on how it worked, so I showed him how to push the start button. Then he couldn't figure out how to open the door, so I pulled the handle for him. He searched through his kitchen, found a bag of popcorn, and wanted me to wait until the bag was finished popping.

. . .

3 1/2 minutes later, he agreed to give me my $30 and let me go home.

Where's My Phone?

"Mary, where's my phone?"

"Umm. I take it."
"I put it in my oven."

. . .

"Mary, it's not there"

"Umm. I threw it in the ocean,
 and the shark came."

"That makes you sad?"

         . . .

Yes. It really does.

We're Here!

We survived our move this weekend. I can't tell you how happy I am that it's over! Paul and I got a little crazy ambitious and loaded and unloaded our moving truck by ourselves - including a sleeper sofa, a PIANO, and an 800 pound King Size TempurPedic brick of a mattress going UP the stairs. We are super hero's.

We're loving our new place so far. I'll post pictures once we finish unpacking and it looks livable in here. BUT the best part about it all - Paul's commute into downtown is now cut down from 60 miles one way, to less than fifteen. Ahh. I can't believe he did that for 6 months.

We can have a life together again! I can't wait.

In other news - Mary is now out of the crib and into a big girl bed! She's slept in it for two nights now, and is definitely testing her new freedom of being able to get out of her bed as much as she wants. We think it's pretty funny to hear her little feet RUNNING upstairs in her room (in the complete darkness) after we put her to bed. Like she has a little last minute energy to get out all at once before she goes to sleep. Whatever works! She stayed in bed for 12 hours last night. I'll take it.

Off to a little more unpacking!

new Winnie the Pooh doll}

Moving ... AGAIN!

We're moving this weekend! After flip flopping between buying a renting for the past few months, we finally found a great townhouse to rent in Atlanta until we buy a house. We've got two more days to pack up the house and load the moving truck before we head to Atlanta on Saturday. Anybody want to pack my house for me? You're all welcome to it.

Mary comes cruisin down the stairs after a bath with Paul's Blackberry tucked in a safe place.

"Hey Mary, what are ya doin?"

"I just got my tele-foam"

Magical Muffins

I took Mary's pacifier away last week. I wanted to do it before she was two, but I never got the motivation to do it. She only used it in her crib for naps and bedtime, so I let her keep it. She got sick last month and since then, she has wanted it with her all the time, everywhere we go. It started to turn into more of a hassle than it was worth, so it was time to take it away before 2009!

I had to make a return at Toys R Us, so while we were there, I told her she could pick out any toy she wanted, but she had to give me her paci's before she could play with it. She told me right away that she wanted Muffins! A baking set that goes along with the house she got for Christmas. Easy enough! We bought the muffins.
We came home and before opening her new toy, we gathered up all her pacifiers around the house and put them in a bag. She got her muffins and I prepared for a week or more of crying and grumpiness from Mary without her pacifier. Apparently, those are some pretty good muffins, she hasn't cried once to get her pacifier's back. She likes to tell us that "paci's are only for little babies" and that she's a big girl.

Wahoo!

So now we bake muffins all day.

Have a bite.
