Cumberland Island
We spent the long weekend camping on Cumberland Island. Paul's been going since he was a kid, so it was fun to take our own child out there for the first time. There are no bridges to the island and no hotels or stores once you get out there, so once you're there, you're stuck. Luckily, the place is gorgeous and scattered with wild horses and the remains of the Carnegie empire that used to run the island. Mary will tell you that her favorite part of the trip was the armadillos, which definitely aren't in short supply out there, she got to see plenty of them. She ended up with a nasty fever every evening and a hard time breathing at night, so it left us a little worried and a little low on the sleep all weekend. She's still fighting a spotty fever, but it's so much easier to take care of a sick baby at home than in a tent! Despite the sickness (and the GIANT mosquitoes), we had such a great weekend together and we can't wait to go back, next time with a healthy little girl and a lot more bug spray!

I never saw a live armadillo until high school. They were always dead on the side of the road. In fact, we had a joke in high school: Why did the chicken cross the road? To prove to the armadillo that it could be done.
Congrats Mary on accomplishing a task that took me nearly 18 years to achieve: seeing a moving armadillo
Oh poor Mary! That stinks! Hope you're catching up on your sleep :) Speaking of sleep, you were in my dream last night. I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure you made me really mad somehow... way to go.
