She seems to have a good idea of what is real and what is just pretend. She tells me that things like unicorns, and fairies, and monsters don't exist in this land. Where they exist, she's not sure, but she know they don't live here. One day she asked me, "Mommy, do rainbows exist in this land?" She was lumping rainbows in with all of those magical, pretend things that exist in some other land.
She had never seen a rainbow! (that she could remember)
Mary went to help Oma water the garden and voila! ...
Just our luck - a few days later we got a real rainbow arching all the way over Oma's house.
Mary thought this was pure magic.
Now she's waiting for me to bust out the book What Makes a Unicorn?
